Stanford Second After Round One

Sammamish, Wash. - Stanford got off to a second-place start at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational on Monday afternoon at the Sahalee Country Club.

The Cardinal shot a round of 15-over-par 303 to trail first-round leader Oregon who shot a score of 11-over-par 299. The Cardinal lead third-place Oregon State who shot a score of 18-over-par 306.

Stanford was led by sophomore Rebecca Durham who sits in a tie for second overall after a first round score of 1-over-par 73. Durham who made four birdies on Friday is just one stroke back of first-round leader Natalia Jimenez of BYU.

Also lurking just three shots off the lead is senior Mari Chun who shot a 3-over-par round of 75 on Friday. Chun is currently tied for tenth in a tournament she won in 2006.

The other scores used by Stanford were a 5-over-par 77 by freshman Sydney Burlison who is tied for 17th place and a 6-over-par 78 by junior Angela King who is tied for 20th. King is making her season debut after not competing last week in the Mason Rudolph Women's Invitational.

Lila Barton rounded out the Stanford competitors on Friday by shooting a 9-over-par 81 to tie for 40th.

The Cardinal will be back on the course tomorrow, Oct. 6 for the second round of the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational. The Cardinal are looking to repeat their 2006 performance when they captured the Invitational title.
