HONOLULU (AP)--Sarah Boothe and Rosalyn Gold-Onwude scored 14 points apiece, and No. 5 Stanford routed No. 25 Iowa State 83-45 at the Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic on Saturday night.
Kayla Pedersen had 13 points and Lindy La Rocque finished with 11 for Stanford (5-1), which made 13 of 31 3-pointers. Gold-Onwude made four 3s, Pedersen went 3-for-3 from beyond the arc and La Rocque also had three 3s.
"I was really proud of how our team played," Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer said. "It was really fun to watch. I think they did a really good job."
The Cardinal ran up a 19-5 lead in the first five minutes before Iowa State called a timeout. By halftime, they expanded their advantage to 37-15, and Stanford never allowed the Cyclones to come close to grabbing the lead.
Stanford shot 50 percent from the field and outrebounded Iowa State 39-30. The Cardinal also committed only 11 turnovers.
"We're not a one-dimensional team. I think we saw that today," VanDerveer said.
Pedersen said she got some open looks early in the game when Iowa State decided to double-team Jayne Appel, who had six points, four rebounds, four assists and four blocked shots in 18 minutes.
"They were really leaving me open so I just took that shot," Pedersen said.
Whitney Williams had 10 points for the Cyclones, who shot 29.6 percent from the field and committed 14 turnovers. Ashley Arlen added nine points and six rebounds and Jocelyn Anderson scored seven.
Stanford played in Hawaii for the first time since November 2001, when the Cardinals defeated Minnesota and Hawaii at the Rainbow Wahine Classic.
