Stanford, Calif. - No. 9 Stanford men's volleyball ran into a No. 6 CS Northridge team playing very well and had little go its way in a 3-0 (30-19, 30-18, 30-27) loss. Sophomore Evan Romero led the squad once again with 12 kills and freshman Spencer McLachlin led the team with seven digs. Sophomore Kawika Shoji put forth 19 more assists to once again lead the team.
The Cardinal had lots of trouble against the Matador front line, which led to Northridge producing 20 blocks as opposed to just six for Stanford. Redshirt freshman Cody Loe was a strong part of that, producing seven blocks to lead CS Northridge. Loe was also very active the entire match, recording 14 kills on only 20 attempts for a .600 hitting percentage.
Stanford junior Miki Groppi came off the bench in the third game and recorded 12 assists in his one game of action. McLachlin, in his second game back from injury, recorded eight kills in the loss.
Stanford will return to the court on Friday, Feb. 15 when they travel to Pacific to take on the Tigers in Stockton. The match will begin at 7:00 p.m. After the one-game week, the Cardinal will travel to Provo, UT. for two games against BYU.
