St. Louis, Mo. - Stanford wrestlers Nick Amuchastegui and Luke Feist both lost their second round bouts today in the night session at the NCAA Championships in St. Louis. Both wrestlers will resume action in the consolation bracket tomorrow morning beginning at 10 a.m. (CT).

Amuchastegui, who shocked a defending All-American in his opening match, dropped a 5-1 decision to the tournament's No. 12 seed, Jarrod King of Edinboro, in his second round match. King tallied two takedowns, including one late in the third period to secure the victory and advance to the championship quarterfinals.

Amuchastegui concluded his first day at the NCAA Championships with a 1-1 record and his second career win over a ranked opponent. In his first bout, Amuchastegui shocked Missouri junior Nick Marable, a 2008 All-American (3rd place), the two-time defending Big 12 Champion, the preseason favorite to win the national title and the tournament's fifth overall seed.

Amuchastegui, who is now 29-7 on the year, will wrestle Illinois' 16th-ranked Roger Smith-Bergsrud tomorrow morning.

Feist dropped an 8-4 decision to Pac-10 Champion Brent Chriswell of Boise State in his second round match. No. 6 Chriswell, the tournament's third-seeded 197-pounder, put Feist on his back in the first period to gain a quick 5-0 lead. Feist fought back within two with a takedown in the third period, but the Bronco wrestler held on for the four-point decision.

Feist topped Boston University's John Hall in the first round to start his third consecutive NCAA trip. Tomorrow, he looks to stay alive in the consolation bracket, facing Iowa's 15th-ranked Chad Beatty.
