Edrick <!>Floreal on the Stanford InviteStanford, Calif. - The Stanford Invitational concluded Saturday from Cobb Track and Angell Field. Stanford track and field hosted one of the largest and most competitive meets of the season for both high school and college athletes.
The Cardinal were not just busy playing host, however, as several athletes posted regional times and personal bests.
The men were led by a pair of throwers who earned regional standards. Carter Wells finished third overall with a personal best of 188-1 in the hammer. The mark was also a regional standard for the Stanford junior.
Freshman Geoffrey Tabor also earned a regional standard in the throws. Tabor finished fifth in the discus with a toss of 179-5 to earn his mark.
Also earning a regional standard for the men was Jacob Evans in the 800 meters. Evans finished sixth overall with a personal-best time of 1:50.35. Evans just outdistanced his teammate Dylan Ferris who finished eighth with a time of 1:50.57, just a fraction off the regional mark.
Also faring well in the 800 meters was Justin Reed who clocked a personal best time of 1:52.52.
Competing in the finals of the 110-meter hurdles, J.J. Jackson finished fifth with a time of 14.48. Jackson's time of 14.32 on Friday to advance to the finals was his personal best.
The women were led by a pair of regional qualifiers in the 800 meters. Lauren Centrowitz returned after playing rabbit on Friday night in the 5,000 meters with a regional standard time in the 800 of 2:07.81. The time was a personal best for the seven-time All-American.

Also recording a regional mark in the 800 meters by way of a personal best was Claire Cormier Thielke. Her time of 2:08.02 placed her 10th overall in the event.
In the pole vault, Katerina Stefanidi placed fourth with a mark of 12-7 ½. The vault was a regional standard, but was not the best mark of the season for the Stanford freshman.
Michaela Wallerstedt led the Stanford throwers, finishing seventh in the discus. Wallerstedt posted a mark of 154-05, which was just short of the regional standard.
The Stanford Invitational concludes after two beautiful, sunny days at Cobb Track and Angell Field. The Cardinal will be back in action at the Texas Relays on April 1-4, from Austin, Texas.
