STANFORD, Calif. -
The NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Committee has announced the field of teams and individuals that will be headed to the Twin Cities to compete in the 2009 National Collegiate Men’s Gymnastics Championships at the University of Minnesota Sports Pavilion, April 16-18.
The competition gets underway on Thursday, April 16, with the 12-team national qualifier. The national qualifier consists of an afternoon qualifying session at 1 p.m., and an evening qualifying session at 7 p.m. The top three teams from each session will advance to the six-team finals on Friday, April 17, at 7 p.m. The top three all-around competitors not on one of the qualifying teams, plus the top three individuals on each event not already qualified on a team or as an all-around competitor, will also advance to the finals session. The individual event finals are scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 18, at 7 p.m.
Top-ranked Stanford, who last weekend captured the 2009 MPSF Championship, will compete in the afternoon qualification session along with No. 4 Michigan, No. 5 California, No. 8 Penn State, No. 9 Nebraska, and No. 12 Navy.
Host No. 7 Minnesota will compete in the evening qualification session that also includes defending national champion Oklahoma, No. 3 Illinois, No. 6 Ohio State, No. 10 Illinois-Chicago and No. 11 Iowa.
Both all-session and single-session ticket packages are on sale through the University of Minnesota Athletics Department and may be purchased in person at the ticket office in Mariucci Arena, over the phone by calling 612-624-8080 or 800-UGOPHER, or online at www.gophersports.com.
All-session adult tickets, which include all four competition sessions, are priced at $35, with all-session student tickets available for $25. Single-session tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $8 for students. Special single-session packages for groups of 15 or more are also available and are priced at $5 per ticket.
