Stanford Closes Regular Season With Four-Game Homestand
Winners of six of its last seven games, the Stanford Cardinal (29-22, 12-12 Pac-10) will conclude the 2009 regular season this week with a four-game homestand at Klein Field at Sunken Diamond. Stanford will welcome the UC Davis Aggies (10-40) for a Tuesday night, non-conference game before hosting the Oregon State Beavers (31-16, 13-11) in a crucial three-game, Pac-10 series this Friday-Sunday.

All 56 of Stanford's regular season games, and any postseason contests, will be carried live on the home of Cardinal baseball for nearly 51 years - student station KZSU 90.1 FM. The KZSU broadcast is available on the internet either at www.kzsulive.stanford.edu or via a link on www.gostanford.com.
Hot at the Right Time
Stanford enters the final week of the regular season playing its best baseball of the year. The Cardinal has won six of its last seven games and nine of its last 12 contests, while going 14-6 in its past 20 outings. Perhaps most impressively, Stanford is 25-12 (.676) since March 25.
Stanford is now 29-22 overall for a .569 winning percentage that is the third-best in the Pac-10 Conference, behind only Arizona State (.788) and Oregon State (.660).
Marquess Eighth on All-Time NCAA Division I Wins List
Stanford head coach Mark Marquess has compiled the eighth-most wins in NCAA Division I baseball history, having posted a 1,355-691-7 (.662) career record. With the Cardinal's 11-7 victory over California April 22, Marquess broke an eighth-place tie with Rod Dedeaux, who - according to the official NCAA record book - compiled a 1,342-597-16 record over 44 seasons at USC (1942-47 and 1949-86).
Marquess, who has spent his entire 33-yearhead coaching career at the helm of his alma mater, has the most victories by any coach of any sport in Stanford history.
Stanford-UC Davis Series
Stanford and UC Davis will meet for the second and final time in 2009, after the Cardinal posted a 5-2 victory March 25 in Davis. The last time the clubs met on The Farm, Stanford defeated the Aggies 8-4 in a 2008 Regional elimination contest, as Brent Milleville's two-run, ninth-inning home run erased a 4-3 defict and sparked a five-run Cardinal rally.
Stanford owns a 43-12 advantage in the series since 1960 (Stanford single-game results are available since 1959).
Stanford-Oregon State Series
Stanford won two of three games last year in Corvallis, and owns a 35-21 advantage in 56 contests against Oregon State since 1964.

Non-Conference Success - Stanford is 14-2 in Its Last 16 Outside of the Pac-10
Beginning with a March 25 victory at UC Davis, Stanford is 14-2 (.875) in its last 15 non-conference games. A May 6 loss at Santa Clara snapped the Cardinal's 10-game, non-conference winning streak - the club's longest since March 19-May 15, 2000.
Stanford is 10-1 in its last 11 home games against non-conference foes, while going 4-1 on the road. The Cardinal's success has featured a 3-0 mark against the Western Athletic Conference, 3-0 versus the Big West Conference, 2-1 against the Mountain West Conference, 4-1 against the West Coast Conference and a pair of wins against Pac-10 foe California in a non-conference setting.
In those 16 games, Stanford has a team batting average of .337 (202-for-599), while scoring 156 runs (9.8 runs per game). Cardinal pitchers, meanwhile, have posted a 4.78 ERA (78er, 147.0ip) and a .283 average against (159-for-561).

Stanford is hitting at a .327 clip (86-for-263) over its last seven games, while scoring 65 runs (9.3 rpg)...the Cardinal has has recorded double-digit hits in six of those contests...four of the first five hitters in the regular Cardinal lineup are batting over .300 (Colin Walsh - .330; Joey August - .312; Kellen Kiilsgaard - .321 and Brent Milleville - .318)...Stanford's third-place hitter, Toby Gerhart, has his average up to .296...the Cardinal is up to fifth in the Pac-10 with a .284 team batting average, and is fourth with 330 runs scored (6.5 rpg).

Stanford ranks third in the Pac-10 by holding opponents to a .252 batting average in conference play...as of the latest NCAA Rankings (released May 19), Stanford was 23rd among all D-I staffs by allowing just 8.98 hits per 9.0 innings...11 different Cardinal pitchers have earned wins this season, including four freshmen and three sophomores.
Stanford With the Gloves
Stanford leads the Pac-10 and ranks sixth in the country with a .978 fielding percentage, having committed only 43 errors in 1,976 total chances...the Cardinal has a chance to set school records for best fielding percentage (currently .9773 by the 2005 club) and fewest errors (currently 51 by that same 2005 team)...three of the 10 qualifying Pac-10 players with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in conference-only games wear the Stanford uniform: CF Joey August, C Zach Jones and 2B Colin Walsh.
Setting the Table
Sophomore second baseman and Stanford leadoff hitter Colin Walsh has reached base safely via hit, walk or hit-by-pitch in 34 straight games, extending the streak by going 2-for-4 with a run scored Sunday at USC. The switch-hitting Walsh is batting .373 (47-for-126) with a .518 on-base percentage during the stretch, adding 36 runs scored, eight doubles, 18 RBI, 37 walks and one hit-by-pitch.
Going back even further, Walsh has reached base safely in 41 of the 42 games since he was permanently inserted into the leadoff spot on March 7. Walsh has hit at a .353 clip (55-for-156) during the stretch, with a .507 on-base mark.
In the NCAA Division I rankings released May 19, Walsh ranked fifth in the country with an average of 0.98 walks per game and was eighth with a Pac-10 leading 49 walks overall. He ranks third in the Pac-10 with an overall .478 on-base percentage.
Kellen at a Dozen
Sophomore outfielder Kellen Kiilsgaard is hitting at a .373 clip (19-for-51) with 12 runs scored and nine RBI during a career-best 12 game hitting streak.Kiilsgaard's run includes consecutive game-winning hits last week. His RBI-single in the 13th inning gave Stanford a 6-5 win May 12 at San Jose State, while his two-out, two-strike, two-run single erased a 13-12 deficit and gave the Cardinal a 14-13, walk-off triumph May 13 over Pacific.
