ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The goals kept coming and the defense continued its stingy play on the final day of the Navy Open in Annapolis, Md. Sunday, as No. 2 Stanford rolled to a pair of victories to complete a perfect 4-0 run. The Cardinal opened the day with a 17-2 morning victory over George Washington before capping off the weekend with a 16-7 win against host No. 12 Navy.

Stanford (4-0) will now have a two-week break between games as it next returns to action Sept. 19-20, hosting the NorCal Tournament at Avery Aquatic Center. Seedings, matchups and the schedule for the tournament will be announced in the week leading up to the event.

The scoring flurry was paced by redshirt freshman Travis Noll and senior Janson Wigo, who each scored five times Sunday. Fellow senior Ryan McCarthy netted four goals while freshman Paul Rudolph continued his strong debut weekend with three goals on the day.

Senior goalie Jimmie Sandman made 16 saves over the two games, including 10 against the Midshipmen in the nightcap.

As in its two victories Saturday, Stanford blew out of the gates in Sunday's opener, racking up eight first-period goals against George Washington. That lead would grow to 14-0 by halftime, effectively eliminating any chance of a Colonials comeback.

While the Colonials managed a goal in each of the next two periods, the Cardinal offense put up three more of its own to account for the final tally. In addition to a hat trick from Noll and two goals apiece from Ryan Kent, Jeffrey Schwimer, Jacob Smith and Wigo, Andrew LaForge and Peter Sefton netted their first goals of the season and McCarthy and Paul Rudolph each tallied a score.

Sandman made six saves to anchor Stanford's defensive effort.

In the afternoon contest against 12th-ranked Navy, Stanford was able to use four goals from Janson Wigo and three from McCarthy to outpace the Midshipmen. With Sandman stopping 10 shots on the defensive end, the Cardinal offense was able to create some space as Rudolph and Alex Pulido each added a pair of goals while Jacob Smith, Cody Wiesen and Drac Wigo each added a score.
