Barte And Burdette Capture Doubles Title At ITA National Indoor Championships

Nov. 8, 2009

NEW HAVEN, Conn.- Stanford's top team of junior Hilary Barte and senior Lindsay Burdette captured the doubles title at the ITA National Indoor Championships on Sunday morning.

The tournament's No. 2-seeded doubles team, Barte and Burdette won their second straight three-set match by defeating Tennessee's duo of Natalie Pluskota and Caitlin Whoriskey 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (4).

These two teams have become quite familiar with each other, already meeting for the second time this year. Pluskota and Whoriskey defeated Barte and Burdette 8-4 in a matchup last month at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. The squads also faced off in last year's NCAA Doubles semifinal, with Barte and Burdette prevailing 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (4).

Two weeks ago, Barte and Burdette captured the doubles crown at the Wilson/ITA Northwest Regional Championships with an 8-3 victory over Cal's Mari Andersson and Jana Juricova.
