TUCSON, Ariz.- No. 11 Stanford swept through its first counting Pac-10 road swing of the year, defeating No. 55 Arizona 6-1 on Saturday afternoon in Tucson.
The Cardinal (13-1, 2-0 Pac-10) has now won six in a row.
Stanford swept all three doubles matches to claim a 1-0 lead, highlighted by an 8-0 rout at the No. 1 position by the nation's second-ranked duo of Hilary Barte and Lindsay Burdette.
The Cardinal recorded three quick singles wins to wrap up the match, receiving victories from Stacey Tan (6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 spot), Mallory Burdette (6-1, 6-3 at the No. 3 position) and Carolyn McVeigh (6-1, 6-2 at the No. 5 spot).
Arizona grabbed its only point of the contest with a victory at the No. 2 spot.
Stanford returns home next weekend to battle USC and UCLA.
