No. 2 Stanford Tops Air Force and UIC

Colorado Spring, Colo. - No. 2 Stanford won every event on its way to a commanding win in a tri-meet with Air Force and Illinois-Chicago. With the win, the Cardinal remained undefeated on the season against collegiate teams.

The Cardinal took an early lead in the floor exercise, scoring 58.25. Eddie Penev nailed his difficult routine to lead all competitors in the event. Penev scored 15.65, which was over a point higher than any other competitor.

On pommel horse, Josh Dixon had his best score of the season with a 14.55 to lead the Cardinal. Stanford scored 56.85 with Jordan Nolff also scoring well with a 14.1.

Nolff also fared well on rings where he led the Cardinal with a score of 15.1. Stanford finished with 59.85 points with all six athletes scoring over 14 points. Nicholas Noone also had a big day, scoring 15.05.

The Cardinal continued to show why it is the top ranked team in the nation on vault. Stanford scored 63.6 points to beat both teams by over three points. Alex Buscaglia led the Cardinal with a score of 16.0 points.

Stanford rounded out its winning performance with scores of 59.25 on parallel bars and 58.9 on the horizontal bar. Noone led Stanford with a score of 15.4 on parallel bars, while Buscaglia led the way on high bar with a score of 15.1.

The Cardinal will be back in action on Sunday when they travel to Lincoln, Neb., to take in Nebraska and No. 1 Oklahoma in another tri-meet. The meet is set for 12 noon, Pacific time.
