MONTREAL-- Former Stanford All-American Paul Kornfeld earned a spot at the Pan Pacific Championships in August after winning the 100 breaststroke on Thursday at the Canadian Pan Pacific Trials.
Kornfeld, who had the fifth-fastest preliminary time (1:03.81), led the field with a mark of 1:02.48 in the finals. On Friday, Kornfeld was second in the 50-meter breaststroke (28.81). He was third in the 200 breaststroke on Saturday (2:17.11)
Current Stanford freshman Matthew Swanston finished third in the 50-meter backstroke with a mark of 26.64 on Thursday.
The championships will be held in Irvine, Calif. from August 18-22 with swim teams from Canada, the United States, Japan and Australia.
