Dunn Finishes Eighth In Pac-10 Heptathlon

Berkeley, Calif. - The Pac-10 multis continued on Sunday from Edwards field with Karynn Dunn placing eighth overall. The Stanford freshman earned one team point as the full team competes next weekend at the Pac-10 Championships.

Dunn finished the final three events of the competition Sunday to place eighth and in the points. She began in the long jump with the best jump of the day (18-9). Dunn scored 762 points in the event that is one of her specialties.

Dunn finished the day with the javelin and the 800 meters. She threw 78-3 in the javelin, followed by running 2:35.01 in the 800. Dunn finished with a total score of 4,811 points in her first collegiate heptathlon.

Whitney Liehr also competed for Stanford, but withdrew after the long jump.

The full Cardinal teams will be in action next weekend for the Pac-10 Championships. The meet will be Saturday and Sunday, May 15-16, back in Berkeley.
