It was just the fifth time in series history Stanford had scored 40 points against the Huskies. It was also the largest margin of victory, besting the 40-0 win in Seattle in the first meeting in 1893 and 40-0 in 1949, also in Seattle. Stanford also scored 43 in 1982 and 46 in 1994, both at Stanford Stadium. The total yards allowed, 107, was the second fewest by a Cardinal defense in school history (record was 80 against San Jose State in 1971). In regards to shutouts, the last time Stanford had: Two road shutouts in a season (1968, at Pacific, at Cal), last time two shutouts in a season (1972, San Jose State, No. 12 Washington), two shutouts of two or more conference opponents (1969, Oregon, Washington State, Oregon State), was all in the late 1960s or early 1970s. It was Stanford's eighth-straight game with 30 or more points, a school-record. It bested a streak of seven games in 1981 (five) and 1982 (two). Stepfan Taylor rushed for over 100 yards in his fifth-straight game (104). Toby Gerhart closed out his career with a record seven in a row to close out the 2009 season. The missed 40-yard field goal attempt in the second quarter broke a string of a school-record 16 in a row by Nate Whitaker, dating back to last year. He last missed one, a 45-yarder against Cal, on November 21. He is now 7-of-12 from 40-49 yards in his career. He made the first 11 this season. Tyler Gaffney scored his first touchdown since Wake Forest, rushing for the first time since the September 25 contest against Notre Dame. Andrew Luck's 51-yard touchdown run was the second-longest of his career and longest since 52 yards against Wake Forest (also a TD). Luck also ran for a career-high 92 yards rushing, breaking his previous best of 69 against Wake Forest. It was Matt Masifilo's first 2.0 sack game of his career. He came in with 2.0 career sacks, making one each of the last two years. Johnson Bademosi picked off his first career interception in the third quarter. Owen Marecic had a career-high in receiving, besting his previous high of 15 against Washington State, earlier this year. With a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, Stanford has outscored opponents 107-27 in the first quarter. Stanford has won the last three meetings in the Emerald City. Stanford is now 3-1 on the road this season. The only blemish was at Oregon.
