Stanford Post-Game Notes
vs. Oregon State, November 27, 2010

  • Andrew Luck broke the single-season record for touchdowns (now 28) with the 52-yard score to Tayler Gaffney in the fourth. John Elway in 1980 and Steve Stenstrom in 1993 had 27 touchdowns in their respective seasons. Of Luck's touchdown passes this season, 12 have come in the first quarter, including two today.
  • Andrew Luck is the first Stanford quarterback to throw four touchdowns in a game, three times in one season. John Elway has the record with five (1980, 1982). Randy Fasani (2000-01) and Jim Plunkett (1968-69) had three, four-TD games in their careers.
  • The eight conference wins is a school-record, and it is the first time ever Stanford has had 11 wins. Stanford had won seven conference games in 1999 and 1940 and 10 games three times previously (10-0-1 in 1926; 10-0-0 in 1940 and 10-3-0 in 1992). It continues to be the lone one-loss season after World War II and first since 1935 (8-1-0).

  • Stepfan Taylor's 62-yard touchdown run was the longest run of the season, besting Luck's 58-yard run last week at Cal and was his 15th of the season, tying him for third on the single-season lists. He also has 1023 yards, becoming the first sophomore since Darrin Nelson in 1978 and sixth back in school history over 1000 yards. It is his sixth 100-yard game of the season.
  • It is the most passing yardage for the Cardinal since 1999 (3,448). With 305 yard tonight, Stanford now has 3076 yards.
