EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Josh Owens had a career-high 31 points with 11 rebounds, as Stanford prevented what would have been its longest losing streak in 18 years with an 88-71 victory against Oregon on Saturday afternoon.
Owens tallied his sixth double-double of the year, Jeremy Green added 15 points and Dwight Powell notched his second double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds as the Cardinal (14-14, 7-10 Pac-10) snapped a four-game losing skid. A fifth defeat would have been the most in a row for Stanford since it ended the 1992-93 season with six straight losses.
Aaron Bright scored 13 points and Anthony Brown 12 for Stanford, which shot 59.3 percent from the field and placed five players in double-figure scoring for the second time this season.
Malcolm Armstead led the Ducks (14-14, 7-9 Pac-10) with 22 points. Jay-R Strowbridge added 16 points and Johnathan Loyd 11.
Stanford bolted to a 43-34 halftime lead, thanks to 54.8 percent shooting over the first 20 minutes. Trailing 18-13 with 11:56 left in the first half, Stanford embarked on an 18-6 scoring run over the next five minutes to take control.
The Cardinal was even better in the second half, shooting 65.2 percent from the floor.
Stanford held a commanding 36-21 rebounding edge and forced Oregon into 16 turnovers.
