Coed Team Finishes Eighth in Maryland

MARYLAND-- Stanford's coed team moved up and finished in eighth place at the Truxton Umsted Regatta, while the women's team remained in 14th place down the interstate at the St. Mary's Women's Regatta.

The No. 11-nationaly ranked coed team moved up two spots from Saturday and were helped by Mateo Vargas and Rebecca King finishing with 145 points and seventh in the A Division and Oliver Toole also finishing seventh with 133 points in the single-handed C Division. The two other, two-person, divisions finished with 195 and 171 points, respectively. No. 3 Charleston won the race.

Over the final day, which encompassed five of the 17 races, Vargas and King finished ninth or better in four races, closing out the day with a third place showing, while Toole was tenth or better in all five races and third twice. Overall the duo were in the top half of 19 boats in 10 of the last 11 races.

In the women's race in St. Mary's City, Sally Mace and Katie Riklin were 11th in the B Division with 140 points, while Eliza Richartz and Helena Scut finished 13th in the A Division with 147 points. No. 4-ranked Yale won. Stanford came in ranked No. 14 nationally.
