Accepted Entries and Live ResultsStanford, Calif. - A week after knocking off California at the Big Meet, Stanford will head across the Bay to the Brutus Hamilton Invitational in Berkeley. The Cardinal will send a group of mostly sprinters and field event athletes to Cal's annual invitational.
The Cardinal swept the Big Meet in a scored dual meet last weekend, but this week will return to the invitational environment familiar to college track and field. Friday's action begins at 9 a.m. with field events, while the action on the track beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, field events begin at 10 a.m. and running events at 1:30 p.m.
Scheduled to compete this weekend for Stanford include standouts Katerina Stefanidi in the pole vault and Amaechi Morton in the 400-meter hurdles. Others will be a contingent of young runners in the middle distances and two 4x100-meter relay teams for the men. The women will feature three javelin throwers and three hurdlers, among others.
The Cardinal men remain inside the top-10, ranked No. 8. Geoffrey Tabor improved his mark in the discus to 188-9 to rank 11th in the nation, while Corey Dysick is now 23rd after clearing 17-0 ¾ in the pole vault at the Big Meet. The distance crew has several highly ranked athletes with Elliott Heath moving to No. 18 in the 1,500 meters and Benjamin Johnson moving to 23rd in the steeplechase.
The women are ranked No. 17 in the nation and got a big weekend from Whitney Liehr who entered the national rankings in the long jump and the triple jump. Liehr leaped 43-8 ½ in the triple jump, which ranks sixth nationally and 20-5 ¾ in the long jump, which ranks 19th. Other top performances from the Big Meet were Madeline Duhon, running 4:21.61 in the 1,500 meters, while Shataya Hendricks and Carissa Levingston excelled in the sprints. Hendricks ran 11.49 in the 100, while Levingston ran 23.58, both ranking 33rd in the country.
