SANTA BARBARA, Calif.-- Stanford Sailing leads the six-team women's Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference after day one with 29 points, as it looks for its seventh-straight women's PCCSC title.
Over on the East Coast, Stanford is in fifth place of 17 teams at the Admiral's Cup in upper state New York.
The Cardinal opened up to a four-point lead over second place Hawai'i's 33 points thanks to Eliza Ritchartz skippering to 19 points over eight races and Sally Mace skippering to a low of 10 points in the B Division. Mace and Katie Riklin have won four of their six races heading into Sunday's finale. Richartz has skippered her team to top-two finishes in six of eight races.
Kevin Laube has skippered the cardinal to 49 points in the B Division, in one of three divisions for the Cardinal, while Nick Dugdale has secured 53 points in his laser boat over the 10 races. Dugdale finished off the day fourth or better in each of the final five races.
Both races conclude on Sunday.
