SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Stanford's women's golf team knows nothing ever comes easy during the championship season.

The Cardinal is tied for sixth place with Northwestern after two rounds of the NCAA Central Regional being contested on the Warren Course in South Bend, Ind. With the top eight teams advancing to the NCAA Championships later this month, Caroline O'Connor's team has little room for error heading into Saturday's final round.

UCLA continues to lead the event at 592 (+16), followed by Minnesota and LSU at 598 (+22), Notre Dame at 603 (+27) and Ohio State at 607 (+31).

However, tomorrow's drama will be centered around the middle of the pack, as seven teams are within nine strokes of the coveted eighth spot, currently occupied by Arkansas at 610 (+34).

Emily Tubert of Arkansas fired a three-under 69 on Friday to take a one stroke lead over UCLA's Ani Gulugian in the individual competition. Tubert is the only player at even par for 36 holes, while Gulugian sits at 145.

Stanford's Rebecca Durham is tied for eighth at 148 (+4) after the senior carded a second round 73 on Friday.

After shooting an even par round of 72 on Thursday, Kristina Wong slipped back into a tie for 17th place following a second round 78. She managed just one birdie to go along with seven bogeys in her second round.

Sally Watson is tied for 21st at 151 (+7). Starting on hole No. 10, the sophomore had a roller coast front nine, making three birdies to offset four bogeys. She picked up two more bogeys on her second nine to finish with a 76.

Freshman Marissa Mar is tied for 80th at 159 (+15). Mar eagled her seventh hole of the day, the par-four, 16th hole to make the turn at one over. However, she was +7 on her final nine holes, which included back to back double bogeys on holes Nos. 3 and 4.

Lila Barton is tied for 106th at 163 (+19) after shooting an 82 on Friday.

Play at he NCAA Central Regional wraps up with 18 holes on Saturday.
