SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Stanford's women's golf team finished seventh at the Central Regional held at the Warren Course in South Bend, Ind. to earn a spot in the NCAA Championships field later this month in Bryan, Texas.
The Cardinal shot a final round 300 (+12) on Saturday to finish seventh at 908 (+44), one stroke ahead of Wake Forest at 909 (+45). The Demon Deacons shot a final round 293 (+5) to wrestle the eighth spot away from Duke, which finished at 913.
UCLA won the team title at 890 (+26), followed by LSU (894), Minnesota (897), Arkansas (899), Notre Dame (901) and Ohio State (905).
Stephanie Kono of UCLA and Meghan McChrystal of LSU tied for the individual title at 218 (+2).
Sally Watson and Marissa Mar paced Stanford over the final round. Watson shot a 73 to finish tied for 14th (+8). The sophomore was three-over on her round but picked up clutch birdies on holes Nos. 12 and 16 for her 73.
Mar closed with a solid 74 (+2) to tie for 67th at 233 (+17). The freshman got off to a fast start, picking up an eagle on the par 5 second hole. She picked up birdies on holes Nos. 10 and 12 to get to three under before playing the last six holes at five over.
Kristina Wong shot a final round 76, picking up a key birdie on the final hole.
Rebecca Durham carded a 79 on Saturday to finish at 227.
Lila Barton finished at 240 after shooting a 77 on Saturday.
Stanford will return home to prepare for the NCAA Championships, to be held on The Traditions Course in Bryan, Texas, May 18-21.
