Tucson, Ariz. - The Stanford track and field teams wrapped up the Pac-10 Championships from Drachman Stadium. The Cardinal women placed fifth, scoring 97 points. Oregon won the women's meet with 154 points, edging second-place Arizona who had 150. The Cardinal men were sixth in the tightly contested men's meet with 89 points. Oregon won with 129 points, but the eight teams were all within 50 points.

Individually, the Cardinal had some outstanding results as Whitney Liehr and Geoffrey Tabor won Pac-10 titles and Kori Carter broke a 24-year-old school record.

Liehr led the Cardinal women by winning the triple jump with a mark of 43-3 ¼. Karynn Dunn also scored in the event, finishing eighth with a mark 40-1 ¼.

The other standout for the Stanford women on Saturday was Kori Carter in the hurdles. Carter established a new Stanford record in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.10, smashing the old record of 58.31 set by Pam Board back in 1987. Carter also competed in the 100-meter hurdles, placing sixth with a time of 13.45. Katie Nelms also scored in the intermediate hurdles with a time of 59.66 to place eighth.

In the middle distances, Stanford had a pair of scorers in the 800 meters as Justine Fedronic placed fourth and Joy O'Hare was sixth. Fedronic finished with a time of 2:06.53, while O'Hare stopped the clock at 2:08.04. Meanwhile, Madeline Duhon placed fifth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:27.58.

In the distances, Kathy Kroeger and Stephanie Marcy scored for the Cardinal as Kroeger was sixth, while Marcy was seventh. Kroeger finished with a time of 16:51.01, while last night's 10K champ, Marcy finished with a time of 16:53.44.

Brittni Dixon-Smith doubled up in the sprints, placing fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 23.69, while also grabbing a single point in the 100 meters, placing eighth with a time of 11.72. The time in the 200 meters ranks Dixon-Smith ninth all-time at Stanford. Carissa Levingston also scored in the sprints after finishing seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 23.86.

In the relays Stanford finished fifth in the 4x100-meters with a time of 45.04, but did not start the 4x400-meters.

Tabor earned his first Pac-10 title by winning the discus with a toss of 189-6. The throw was four feet further than second-place finisher Jordan Clarke of Arizona State. Quinn Dawson also scored in the event, placing eighth with a throw of 170-7.

The throwers also came through in the hammer as Stanford got points from both Carter Wells and Dawson. Wells threw 199-11 to finish sixth, while Dawson was eighth with a toss of 188-5.

The Cardinal scored big points in the 5,000 meters with four in the top eight. Chris Derrick led the way by placing third with a time of 13:57.88. Elliott Heath (14:12.43), Miles Unterreiner (14:16.70) and Jake Riley (14:16.72) placed fourth through seventh to give Stanford 15 points in the event.

Amaechi Morton capped a busy day by placing third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 49.43 Morton also ran the 110-meter hurdles, placing seventh with a time of 14.22 and competed in the 4x400 meters.

Spencer Chase was the loan Stanford sprinter to score in an individual event, placing eighth in 400 meters with a career-best time of 46.95.

In the hammer, Stanford got points from both Carter Wells and Quinn Dawson. Wells threw 199-11 to finish sixth, while Dawson was eighth with a toss of 188-5.

The Cardinal scored in both relays, placing fifth in the 4x400 meters with a time of 3:09.00 and eighth in the 4x100 meters with a time of 41.47.
