STANFORD, Calif. - Charlotte Brown, a redshirt freshman on the 2010 Stanford's women's volleyball team, has medically retired from the sport, the program announced today.
Due to ongoing injuries, which date back to high school, Brown has decided she will not return to the team in the fall. The Walnut Creek, Calif., native intends to remain a student at Stanford as she pursues an undergraduate degree.
"This is a sad day for Stanford volleyball," said head coach John Dunning. "We will miss Charlotte, but want to wish her well and hope she can remain involved with the program in the future. Charlotte is an amazing person; she had a very bright future as a player and was clearly a leader on our team."
After sitting out her first season on The Farm in 2009, Brown appeared in 16 sets for the Cardinal as a redshirt freshman in 2010. She averaged 1.19 kills per set and 0.88 blocks per set, while posting a .375 attack percentage as a middle blocker.
