STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford will continue its football series with Notre Dame through the 2019 season, Jaquish & Kenninger Director of Athletics Bob Bowlsby announced today.
Following the 2011 game scheduled for Nov. 26 at Stanford Stadium, the two schools will proceed with its series on a home-and-home, annual basis for the next eight years through the 2019 season.
"We are very excited to be extending our football series with the University of Notre Dame," said Bowlsby. "We have enjoyed a long history of great competition and we are pleased to continue the spirited rivalry between our two universities."
Stanford and Notre Dame have squared off 25 times beginning with the first meeting between the two schools in the 1925 Rose Bowl, with the Irish holding a 17-8 advantage in the series. The two schools have met annually for each of the last 14 seasons and 21 out of the last 23 campaigns dating back to 1988.
Stanford has claimed the last two games in the series, winning 45-38 in 2009 at Stanford Stadium and 37-14 last season in South Bend.
The Cardinal and Irish will meet for the 26th time on Nov. 26, 2011 at Stanford Stadium. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. and the game will be televised nationally by either ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.
