STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford senior oarsman Alex Syverson was named to the men's rowing All-Pac-10 Team, the conference announced Thursday.
Syverson, a native of Minneapolis, Minn., is a member of the Stanford I Eight that claimed the bronze medal at the Pac-10 Championships two weeks ago. The Stanford men's I Eight will travel to Cherry Hill, N.J. next weekend to take part in the IRA National Championships from June 2-4.
With Syverson as part of the I Eight crew, the Cardinal boat also finished second in the Grand Final for the Copley Cup at the San Diego Crew Classic in April, split a pair of races at the Stanford Invitational, and defeated Cambridge (UK) at the Windermere Cup in Seattle in May.
Syverson's season actually began during the summer, as he was part of the U.S. men's four that took seventh at the World Under-23 Championships back in July.
