Complete All-Region Teams Get Acrobat Reader

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford women's lacrosse team was well represented by the IWLCA with the announcement of the all-region teams on Thursday. The Cardinal put three women on the first team and three women on the second team for the most honorees in school history.

Stanford midfielders, Leslie Foard and Lauren Schmidt and defender Paige Farmakis were honored as first team selections, while Sarah Flynn, Karen Nesbitt and Catherine Swanson were named to the second team.

These athletes are now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Monday, May 30. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American banquet on June 11, 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Valley Forge in King of Prussia, Pa.

Lauren Schmidt earned all-region honors for the third straight season, while Foard moved up to the first team after earning second team honors last season. Farmakis is being honored by the IWLCA for the first time.

Flynn was a repeat winner on the second team, while Nesbitt and Swanson were first-time recipients.

The Cardinal are coming off a banner season where it won the MPSF and advanced to its second-consecutive NCAA tournament. The No.6 national ranking that Stanford earned during the season was the best in school history.
