Sailors Move on to Second Day at Team Championships

CASCADE LOCKS, Ore.-- Stanford earned its way into the second day of the team national championships following a four-team sail off on Friday on the Hood River.

Stanford tied for third place with a 3-3 record against one of two six-team first round fields, forcing a sailoff with Hobart & William Smith, Wisconsin and South Florida. HWS then moved on after beating USF.

Stanford opened up with a win over USF and joined 3-3 HWS,  6-0 Boston College and 4-2 Saint Mary's (Md.) from its group and 6-0 Roger Williams, 5-1 Georgetown,  4-2 College of Charleston and 3-3 Yale in the eight-team gold round. The top four then advance to Sunday's final four.

On Monday, the national championships conclude with the coed three-day race running through June 1. The Stanford women finished 14th in the women's national championships.
