DURHAM, N.H.- No. 7 Stanford dropped a 6-3 decision at No. 12 New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon, missing out an opportunity to complete a sweep of its two-game road swing.
Stanford (10-2, 3-0 NorPac) suffered only its second loss of the year and first since a 4-2 setback at No. 4 Connecticut back on Aug. 29.
The Cardinal entered Sunday's game looking to establish a school record with 10 consecutive victories.
Instead, New Hampshire (12-2, 2-0 America East) tallied three goals in each half and received a hat trick from Whitney Frates, who also chipped in with an assist and four shots.
The Wildcats held slim edges in shots (12-11) and penalty corners (5-2).
Frates scored two of her first three goals over the first 20 minutes, both coming unassisted to give New Hampshire a 2-0 lead.
Courtney Haldeman put Stanford on the board with her third goal of the year, scoring in the 29th minute following a baseline center pass from Stephanie Byrne.
New Hampshire then extended its lead to 3-1 right before halftime, picking up a goal from Emma Erler.
The Wildcats continued to pressure on offense, thanks to a pair of goals from Hayley Rausch during a nine-minute stretch midway through the second period.
Leading 5-1, Frates registered her third goal of the afternoon at the 57:30 mark to round out the scoring for the Wildcats.
Stanford was able to push across two goals during the game's final five minutes. In the 66th minute, Emily Henriksson found the cage from 10 yards out following a center pass from Haldeman, before Byrne converted on a redirect from the left side with an assist from Kelsey Lloyd one minute later.
Haldeman and Katie Mitchell led the Cardinal with three shots apiece.

NOTES: Stanford will play a pair of NorPac games next weekend, hosting Pacific on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. before traveling to California on Sunday, Oct. 16 for a 1 p.m. match ... The six goals allowed were Stanford's most since a 6-2 defeat at No. 1 Maryland on Oct. 30, 2009 ... The Cardinal played the final 3:12 of Sunday's game without a goalie ...
