Brown's 14 Leads Stanford Past UC Davis, 70-49

DAVIS, Calif.- Anthony Brown tallied 14 points and six rebounds, Dwight Powell scored 13 points and Stanford used a big run in the second half to pull away and beat UC Davis 70-49 on Friday night.

Brown, who hadn't scored in 27 minutes over his previous two games, made 6-10 shots from the floor to give the Cardinal (4-0) a boost in its first road game of the season.

Josh Owens added 10 points for Stanford, which has held each of its four opponents to under 60 points. The Cardinal opened the 2007-08 campaign by limiting its first four foes to 60 points or less.

Stanford shot 47.5 percent from the field and held a 38-25 rebounding edge, with six different players pulling down at least three rebounds. Jarrett Mann led the effort on the glass with seven boards.

In addition to forcing UC Davis (1-4) into 18 turnovers, Stanford dished out 23 assists on 29 buckets. The 23 assists were the most since Dec. 28, 2008, when Stanford finished with 24 handouts in a 111-66 win over Texas Tech.

Josh Ritchart had 19 points and five rebounds to pace UC Davis.

Stanford's largest lead was 26 points, with the Cardinal in front 67-41 at the 4:57 mark of the second period.
