STANFORD, Calif. - Fifth-ranked Stanford completed its two-game exhibition slate Saturday afternoon with a 100-54 victory over Vanguard at Maples Pavilion.

With two exhibition wins in the books, including Wednesday night's 106-56 win over UC San Diego, the Cardinal looks ahead to Friday night's season opener at Texas. Stanford takes on the Longhorns at 5 p.m. PT in Austin before returning home for its 2011-12 home opener Sunday, Nov. 13 at 2 p.m. against Gonzaga.

Senior guard Lindy La Rocque and freshman forward Bonnie Samuelson led the Cardinal with 17 points apiece Saturday. Both players also posted matching 5-for-10 showings from behind the arc.

Junior forward Joslyn Tinkle scored 15 points in the game and, along with freshman guard Amber Orrange, led the Cardinal with eight rebounds. Orrange also passed out a team-high six assists.

The Ogwumike sisters, Nnemkadi and Chiney, combined for 17 points and 11 rebounds in limited action. Chiney went for 11 points and five boards over just 13 minutes while Nnemkadi played 15 minutes, scoring six points with six rebounds.

Stanford quickly put things out of reach against the Lions, opening with a 27-4 run within the first 7:23. La Rocque hit a pair of 3-pointers as Stanford went ahead, 7-2, in the opening minute and a half. The Las Vegas native scored eight of Stanford's points in that 27-4 run, while Samuelson added five and Nnemkadi Ogwumike six.

Vanguard's offense woke up with consecutive 3-pointers from Taylor Belmont and Ariel Castillo, who scored 11 and 14 points, respectively, to pace the Lions in the contest. Castillo would hit another 3-pointer followed by a jumper from Paige Halberg that made it an 18-point game at 35-17 with 9:25 to go in the half.

Sarah Boothe, who scored eight points in the game, got two followed by a 3-pointer from Taylor Greenfield, who netted 10 points on the night, to get Stanford to a 40-17 lead. Halberg hit a free throw to make it 40-18, then Stanford would score the next 11 points, capped by consecutive threes from La Rocque, to go up 51-18.

Halberg hit a jumper with 22 seconds remaining to make it 51-20 at the half.

Stanford increased its lead to 40 points with 11:47 to play after back-to-back buckets from Tinkle and Boothe. Five consecutive points from Greenfield and another Samuelson 3-pointer got the lead to 86-38.

Vanguard played hard to the end, outscoring the Cardinal, 16-14 over the remaining 6:33. Tinkle and freshman Erica Payne would account for Stanford's final 14 points, with Payne netting six.
