REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.-- Stanford Sailing finished off the weekend by winning its second-straight regional North Regatta, while the Stanford women finished in second place, after being edged by USC by three points over the two-day event.
The Cardinal women had a four-point lead after Saturday's first eight races, but USC combined to finish in the top-three in seven of 10 races while the Cardinal's seventh place finish in the 11th B division race and ninth place finish in the 13th race gave the Women of Troy the win with 79 points.
Stanford finished with 82 overall points with the A Division skippered by Sally Mace securing 36 points—best in the division. Molly McKinney, skippering the B Division, scored 46 points, second to USC's 34.
In the second coed regional event of the weekend, Stanford finished with the top three spots among the 19 competitors. The top team's B Division squad won the final four races after opening up the day in second place. The A Division also had the top score, tying their Stanford teammates with 11 points. Stanford which finished with 17, 29 and 37 points, easily outdistanced four place Santa Clara's 61 points.
Stanford won Saturday's first North Regatta with the top four places.
