Final Stats

STANFORD, Calif.-- No. 3-ranked Stanford (7-1) closed out the regular season with a 146.5-96.5 win over No. 6-ranked Cal (4-2) as Chad La Tourette closed out his dual career with his 22nd and 23rd straight victory in the long distance freestyle,  while freshman Connor Kuremsky stepped up with a sweep in diving.

La Tourette finished his career 25-1 after winning the 1000 free (8:57.26) and then the 500 free (4:23.66). He only lost one long distance dual event in his career, his freshman year to his own teammates.

Kuremsky meanwhile, only a freshman, filled in for classmate Kristian Ipsen, who was training with the U.S. National team for the upcoming World Cup starting on Monday.

Kuremsky edged his senior teammate, Taylor Sishc, scoring a better score on five of six dives for a final score of 355.80 in the 3-meter. The freshman's scores went from 6.5's to 7.5's throughout the six-dive event. Sishc (340.88) and Noah Garcia (321.20) rounded out a 1-2-3 sweep in the 3-meter.

Kuremsky then closed out his day by winning the 1-meter with a score of 345.45, in easily defeating his Cardinal teammates Dhruv Tyagi (324.53) and Sishc (324.00). Kuremsky was the top Cardinal diver with classmate Kristian Ipsen in London for the World Cup.

Ten seniors took a part in senior ceremonies, as senior Bobby Bollier picked up a win the 200 fly. Nine of the 14 events were won by the Cardinal.

After Cal took the opening event, the 400 medley relay, the Cardinal rallied for wins in five of the next six events to lead 85-46 following Bollier's win in the 200 fly (1:45.60). Aaron Wayne started a string of four-straight wins, winning the 50 free (19.89) ahead of senior Geoff Cheah (19.98). Cheah later in the day was also second in the 50 free.

The Stanford divers head to the Pac-12 Diving Championships next week while the men's swim team has the week off prior to its own championship in East Los Angeles next week.\ Ipsen begins his World Cup diving event in London starting on Monday.
