Sailors in First at Bavier Team Race

Feb. 25, 2012

CHARLESTON, SC-- In its second-straight weekend in Charleston, the Stanford Cardinal and the host College of Charleston are both 13-3 following the first of two days of sailing at the Bob Bavier Team Race.

The lowest combined score of the three boats, head-to-head with another school results in a win. Following Stanford and Charleston, Yale is 11-4 and Navy is 10-6 among the 10-team field.

Stanford also won the South Regatta with a combined score of 35 points over seven races, finishing in the top-four in each of the seven races and two divisions. The B Division scored 16 points and the A Division had 19 points in and around Newport Beach.

Last week the women won the South Florida women's regatta and were second to the College of Charleston in its own coed race, featuring two sailors in two divisions racing against 12-18 teams at once.
