Box Score

STANFORD, Calif.-- Stephen Piscotty drove in four runs, with two separate at-bats in a 13-run fourth as No. 2-ranked Stanford (7-0) swept No. 7-ranked Texas (2-5) following a 15-1 win on Sunday.

It was the first Stanford series sweep of the Longhorns in the history between the two programs. By the time Stanford emptied the bases in the eighth, Stanford had scored 28 runs and hit .364 in the three games, including 17 hits on Sunday.

Freshman John Hochstatter (2-0) pitched into the seventh, giving up one run on five hits in his first collegiate start, striking out four with three walks. He threw 6.1 innings.

Kenny Diekroeger finished 3-for-5 with two RBIs, while Eric Smith added three RBIs and a three-hit afternoon. Piscotty went 2-for-5 with four RBIs.

It was Texas' fifth-straight loss of the season after starting the year 2-0 against Duke.

The Cardinal batted around twice in the fourth, scoring 13 times with nine hits, three walks, and three hit by pitches as eight players had RBIs and eight batters scored against four Texas pitchers. In what was a 1-1 game, the rally made it 14-1 as Stanford sent eight-straight men to the plate before the first out was recorded.

Starter John Curtiss (0-2) loaded the bases, before reliever Ricky Jacquez hit Eric Smith to break the tie. Austin Wilson followed with a two-run double, as Jake Stewart followed with an RBI single and Piscotty's two-run double made it 7-1. Four-straight RBIs followed to make it 11-1. A hit by pitch made it 12-1, before Piscotty's second hit in the inning, a two-run single finished off the rally at 14-1.

Texas was the first collegiate program to score off Hochstatter, when a sacrifice fly scored Erich Weiss and tied the game at 1-1 in the third. Hochstatter with 6.1 no-hit innings last week in relief, had 3.2 scoreless innings today.

Diekroeger gave the Cardinal an early 1-0 lead in the first with an RBI single. Stanford has scored first in five of the first seven games.

NOTES: It was the first time Stanford scored double digits in an inning since April, 2009 against Santa Clara and just the fourth time since 2001, joining April 2009 versus Santa Clara (10 runs), June, 2008 against Florida State (11 runs at CWS), May 2007 versus USC (13) and May, 2001 at Washington State (10). Against USC, Stanford sent 17 men to the plate in the fourth... Texas' entire lineup entered the day with 12 combined runs this year... In Hogan's Heroes-esque fashion John Hochstatter faced Texas designated hitter Landon Steinhagen with Hochstatter enducing two flyouts and a single... Stanford hosts UC Davis on Tuesday, before traveling to Fresno State for games at 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
