MLB Draft / Summer League: Drafted in the fourth round by the Royals in the 2012 Draft... drafted in the second round by the Tampa Bay Rays following high school ... played for the Newport Gulls in the New England Collegiate Baseball League in the summer of 2010, ranking seventh in the league in batting (.324), tenth in slugging (.446) and seventh in hits (45). Was second on the team with nine doubles and third in RBIs (19) as he was named the starting shortstop in the All Star Game and following the season was rated as the No. 1 prospect by Baseball America in the NECBL ahead of teammate Mark Appel, who led the team in wins and was the No. 2 prospect ... began the summer leading the league in hitting, earning NECBL Player of the Week honors following a .480 week.

Stanford Career: Three-year starting infielder at third, short and second appeared in 170 games (169 starts) with a .308 career average with 105 career runs and 103 career RBIs... had 36 career doubles, two triples and nine homers... had two of the longest hitting streaks since 1988, a 23-game streak as a freshman and a 16-game streak as a sophomore.

As a junior in 2012: Second team Academic All-American and two-time Academic All-District... All-Regional Tourney... 28 starts at second, 31 at short... hit .275 over 59 starts with 32 runs and 31 RBIs with a team-leading 16 doubles and two home runs... had 20 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games... game-tying, two-out, two-run single at Oregon State (5/6) in ninth... three-hit game in series clincher over ASU (4/21)... Two-straight three-hit games, 3-for-3 with two doubles and a solo homer v. Pacific (4/11) after a 3-for-6 day with two, two-run doubles at Cal (4/9)... three hits in series clincher at Washington (4/7) including first homer of the season... two-run single and RBI single in 5-0 win at Saint Mary's (3/6) and added two-hit game and three runs in second meeting with Gaels (3/28)... two, two-hit games at Fresno State on Saturday (3/2) and Sunday (3/3)... three hits including two doubles v. As a Sophomore in 2011: Honorable mention All-Pac-10, making 56 starts at shortstop... hit .293 with 31 runs and 31 RBIs, including eight doubles, one triple and two home runs... 21 multi-hit games and 9 multi-RBI games... named Academic All-District VIII with a 3.6 cum GPA... in early May named one of the top-25 collegiate shortstops as he continues to be on the watch list for the Brooks Wallace Award... 16-game hit streak from Feb. 26 to April 8, and hit safely in 20 of the first 21 games watching average rise to .422 in early April... committed just two errors over the first 15 games... three hits over UW (5/7) in series clincher after a two-run double in Friday's win... game-winning bloop single capped four-run, two-out ninth in series clincher over No. 11 UCLA (4/23)... three-run first inning homer at SCU and an RBI triple (4/19)... went 3-for-6 with four runs at WSU (4/2)... three hits going 3-for-5 with a two-run single v. Santa Clara (3/22)... also had three hits and an RBI single v. As a Freshman in 2010: Became first freshman since Edmund Muth in 1997 to lead the team in batting (.356) and was the co-leader in RBIs (41) with Colin Walsh, becoming the first freshman ever to lead the Cardinal in RBIs ... made 54 starts on the season with 48 starts at third and six at short in 2010 for NCAA Regional team ... Pac-10 Freshman of the Year... Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball, Yahoo Sports and Baseball America... first team All-Pac-10 ... all-NCAA Regional Tournament at third base after batting .500 in the two games ... three-game winning RBIs of the 10 wins in the last at-bat for the Cardinal in 2010 ... had 12 doubles, one triple and was second on the team with five homers for a .491 slugging percentage ... was also the team leader with 23 multi-hit games and 12 multi-RBI games ... had a 23-game hit streak from April 10 to May 21, hitting .434 over that stretch, for the fourth longest streak since 1988 for a Cardinal player... had three hits and two RBI singles in NCAA Regional opening loss to New Mexico (6/4) ... after hit streak ended, had three hits at No. 26 Arizona, including two-run single on Sunday (5/23) ... held hit less in rubber game against ASU (5/29) ... 3-for-4 with the go-ahead RBI as a part of a three-run fifth against Hawai'i (5/19)... hit two home runs at pitcher friendly Blair Field, a two-run shot on Saturday (5/8) which briefly gave the Cardinal the lead in the ninth, at 3-2, and a solo shot on Sunday (5/9) ... three hits at Safeco Field at Washington (5/1), including a double and three more hits on Sunday at Washington (5/2) ... named Pac-10 Player of the Week after two game-winning RBIs against Cal. GW Sac Fly to win series opener 3-2 (4/23) before hitting a one-out RBI double to cap a three-run inning on Sunday (4/25). Also went 3-for-5 with two runs and a two-run single v. Cal on Saturday (4/24) ... 3-for-4 with two RBIs at Santa Clara (4/13) ... drove in four runs with a two-run double, solo homer and sac fly against Pepperdine in Sunday sweep (3/21)... grand slam as a part of a six-run sixth at UC Davis (3/5) for first career homer... game-winning, walk-off two-run double to complete sweep over No. 5 Rice to open season ... two doubles and an infield single against Pacific (2/24).

High School: Four-year letterman in baseball and earned one varsity letter in basketball at Menlo School ... prep first-team All-American by Baseball America as a senior, earning all-state, all-county and league MVP honors ... before being sidelined with a knee injury late in his senior season, hit .586 over 18 games with 20 RBIs, 10 doubles, three triples and four homers over 58 at-bats ... walked 21 times for a .688 on-base percentage and 1.069 slugging percentage ... also stole 15 of 17 bases ... also had an 0.68 ERA ... named all-league and all-county as a junior ... team won the the league title his last two years ... coached by Craig Schoof ... national merit finalist and national AP scholar.

Personal: Son of Ken and Kathy ... has two younger siblings, Danny, who took over at shortstop following the departure of his older brother and will be joining his brother on the Stanford baseball team as part of the class of 2014, and Mikey ... mother, Kathy, ran track and cross country at Dartmouth, setting multiple school-records during her time there ... majoring in management science and engineering.
