Successful Sailing Weekend For Cardinal

CHARLESTON, SC / NEWPORT BEACH, CA / MONTEREY, CA-- Stanford sailing had an impressive weekend, finishing second in team racing at the College of Charleston Bob Bavier Regatta and winning three West Coast events.

At the College of Charleston, Stanford was edged for the team title after finishing 22-5. Yale was deemed the winner after a 23-4 record. Yale and Stanford were both 7-2 in the first round robin of the three boat team race, before Yale edged the Cardinal 8-1 to 7-2 in the second round robin. In the final round robin, both teams were 8-1. Stanford actually beat Yale in two of three races throughout the two-day event.

In Southern California, Stanford again dominated the West Coast, winning the second-straight South REgatta with 38 points.  The A Division of Hans Henken and Natalie Urban tallied 23 points with top-five finishes in five of the six races, while the B Division skippered by Michael Dahl had 15 points thanks to three wins and a second place finish. The same quartet won the third South regatta of the season on Saturday with a combined 35 points.

In Monterey, Molly McKinney and MacKenzie Wilson were first or second in three races a piece for a low of nine points to win the Otter Invite. Where McKinney and Wilson finished second, the winner were their teammates, Max Kohrman and Brittany Hallawell, who finished second overall with 13 points.
