No. 6 Stanford Falls To No. 1 USC, 7-0

STANFORD, Calif.- No.6 Stanford dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 1 USC on Friday afternoon at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium, kicking off a challenging weekend that will feature a pair of top-10 opponents visiting The Farm.

Stanford falls to 4-1 on the year while USC improves to 5-0. The three-time defending NCAA champion Trojans were making their first appearance at Taube Family Tennis Stadium since capturing the national championship last May.

USC locked up the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead, winning on courts one and three.

The Trojans followed with four straight-set singles wins to clinch the match.

The contest concluded with Steve Johnson outlasting Ryan Thacher 7-6 (5), 6-7 (4), 1-0 (3) at the top spot of the lineup to snap Thacher's four-match winning streak.

Stanford is back in action on Saturday, Feb. 4, against No. 9 UCLA at 1 p.m.
