GAINESVILLE, Fla. - The Stanford synchronized swimming team opened the season with a win against the University of Florida and the University of Tampa, Saturday, in Gainesville, Fla. The Cardinal scored 102 team points, while the Gators tallied 82 points and the Spartans finished with 19.
Junior Madison Crocker won the A figures, while senior Alex Bollaidlaw took second. Junior Jessica Guenther was third, while senior Koko Urata placed fourth and Liane Lovitt was fifth. Florida's Allison Baker came in sixth.
In the B figures, sophomore Leigh Haldeman came in first for the Cardinal. Florida's MelanieWatkins placed second, while Stanford freshman Anna Boyle came in third. Florida's Kimberly Stalker took fourth, Tampa's Amanda Chils was fifth and Stanford junior Danielle Rossoni was sixth.
Bollaidlaw, Urata and Lovitt performed a solid trio routine to capture first for Stanford. The Cardinal's Boyle, Crocker and Haldeman came in second. The University of Florida took third.
In the duet, Bollaidlaw and Urata came in first place, while Crocker and Guenther took second. Boyle and Haldeman were an honorary third place.
Finally, in the solo routine, Croker placed first to complete the sweep for Stanford. The University of Florida placed second and third, while Tampa took fourth.
Stanford returns to The Farm for its home opener against the University of Incarnate Word. The teams will compete at the Avery Aquatic Center on Saturday, Feb. 11 at noon.
