AUBURN, Ala.-- Maya DiRado became the fifth woman ever under four minutes of the 400-yard individual medley, Betsy Webb bettered her school-record in the 100 back and the 200 medley relay also set a school-record as Stanford is fifth with one day to go at the NCAA Championships.
Cal continues to lead after two day with 311 points, followed by Georgia (247), USC (226), Arizona (226) and the Cardinal (222).
DiRado finished with a time of 3:59.88 behind new NCCA record holder Katinka Hosszu of USC and her mark of 3:56.54, which broke former Stanford great Julia Smit's record in 2010. DiRado became the fifth swimmer all-time in NCAA history under four minutes. DiRado and Smit (3:58.23) are the lone Stanford swimmers under four minutes as the duo continue to rank 1-2 in the Cardinal record books.
Stanford placed sixth in the finals of the 200 medley relay (1:36.82) as Sam Woodward, Felicia Lee, Kate Olsen and Betsy Webb bettered their Pac-12 mark of 1:36.90 and extended their school-record.
Woodward, Lee and Webb also earned All-America honors in individual events on Friday.
In the final individual swim event of the night, Webb was fifth in the 100 back with a time of 51.69 after her time of 51.97 in the prelims which both broke her school-record of 52.28 set at the Pac-12 meet.
Lee also picked up a top-16 finish in the 100 back, where she was 15th with a time of 52.99. Woodward and Lee both made the consolation finals of the 100 fly finishing tenth (52.07) and 12th respectively (52.37).
Andi Murez reached her first A Final of an individual event, finishing eighth in the 200 free with a time of 1:44.67. Murez and DiRado were also a part of the seventh place 800 free relay team to close out the night.
NOTES: Stanford now has four school-records over two days of the NCAA Championships... Katinka Hosszu's time in the 400 IM broke Stanford great Julia Smit's NCAA record (3:58.23) set in 2010, while second place Caitlin Leverenze of Cal broke the American record with her time of 3:57.89... today alone, five NCAA records were set... the meet concludes on Saturday on the Auburn campus with prelims starting at 9 a.m PT and the finals starting at 5 p.m. PT
