Synchro Tops Arizona in Tucson

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Stanford synchronized swimming team defeated the University of Arizona, 94-77.5, Saturday in Tucson, Ariz.

Preparing for the Western Regionals, the Cardinal came out and won three of the four events, as well as placing first in the A and B elements.

Junior Madison Crocker placed first in the solo competition with an 86.833. The Wildcats finished in second and third.

In the duet, Crocker paired with junior Jessica Guenther to capture the duet win with an 87.500. Seniors Alex Bollaidlaw and Koko Urata finished second with an 86.667, while freshman Anna Boyle and sophomore Leigh Haldeman took third with an 84.333. The University of Arizona placed fourth.

Bollaidlaw, Urata and sophomore Liane Lovitt took first in the trio with an 87.500. Boyle, Brocker and Haldeman came in second with an 85.667, while the Wildcats took third.

Arizona topped the Cardinal in the team competition. In the 'B' elements, Haldeman finished first, while junior Danielle Rossini took second. In the 'A' elements, Urata came in first followed by Crocker, Guenther, Lovitt, Bollaidlaw and Boyle.

Stanford will be back in the pool on Sunday, Mar. 4 to compete in the Western Regionals against Arizona and Arizona State in Tucson.
