SANTA BARBARA, Calif.-- For the first time in league history, Stanford Sailing won all six Pacific Coast Collegiate Sailing Conference titles, completing the double trifecta with a win at the two-day coed championships on Sunday.
The Cardinal won its third-straight coed title behind a combined 22 points. The B Division skippered by Oliver Toole won five out of six races for seven points, while Kevin Laube skippered the A Division to 15 points among the 12-team field. No team had ever previously won all six championships in PCCSC history
Laube and coed crew Molly McKinney were a part of three of the six title winning teams with Laube winning the match, team and coed titles and McKinney winning the women's singlehanded, women's and coed titles.
The top-four PCCSC teams-- Stanford, UC Santa Barbara, Long Beach State and UC Irvine are headed to one of two 18-team, coed national semifinals, held at Annapolis, MD on May 12-13. The top nine teams from each semifinal head onto nationals at the end of May.
Stanford has reached all three national championships in each year since 2008. The team racing and women's fleets have already qualified for nationals. The national championships are May 30-June 8 at Lake Travis in Texas, starting with the women and continuing with team racing and finishing off with coed sailing.
In the fall, Stanford won the match three-person title as well as both the men's and women's singlehanded titles. In the spring, the Cardinal previously won the women's and three-boat team titles.
