GOLD RIVER, Calif. - No. 1 Stanford Lightweight Rowing captured the 2012 Pacific Coast Rowing Championship at Lake Natoma Saturday.
Stanford's I Eight crossed the line in a time of 6:55.7, nearly five seconds ahead of runner-up Sacramento State. Following the Cardinal and Hornets were UC Santa Barbara, California, Stanford B and UC Santa Barbara B.
The Cardinal Lightweights also won the Varsity Lightweight Four, Open Four, and Novice Lightweight Four events.
"We were happy with the results today," commented Stanford lightweight rowing head coach Al Acosta. "Now we have to go right back to work and figure out who's going to race in our top two boats that will go to the national championships."
Next up for the Stanford Lightweights is the IRA National Championship in Cherry Hill, N.J. from June 1-2.
