FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Stanford wrapped up play at the NCAA Championships on Friday, shooting a final round 296 to finish in 24th place at 1216 (+64) for the 72-hole event at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.
Alabama held off USC and LSU to win the team title with a score of 1171 (+19), one shot better than USC and two strokes clear of LSU, which finished third after shooting a one-over par score of 289 on the final day.
Sophomore Chirapat Jao-Javonil of Oklahoma won the individual championship with a final score of 282 (-6), earning a four-stroke victory over Alabama's Brooke Pancake.
The Cardinal's final round 296 was its lowest round of the four days, but still left Stanford two strokes behind Arkansas.
Mariko Tumangan shot a final round 72 on Friday with three birdies and three bogeys on her card. The freshman from San Jose strung together rounds of 71-75-79-72 in her first NCAA Championship event to finish at 297 (+9), good for a tie for 38th place.
Junior Sally Watson tied for 63rd at 301 after shooting a final round 73. After picking up her only birdie of the day on her fifth hole, Watson proceeded to make 11 straight pars but a bogey-bogey finish left her at one over for the day.
Senior Sydney Burlison closed out her Stanford career by shooting a final round 76.
Sophomore Marissa Mar carded a 75 to tie for 106th place at 310 (+22).
Junior Kristina Wong finished in 124th place at 319 after closing with a 78 on Friday.
