Sailors Closing in on Top-Six Finish

June 7, 2012

AUSTIN, Texas-- A late push on day two put Stanford Sailing into sixth place with one day to go at the national coed championships.

Since 2002, Stanford has never finished better than seventh at coed nationals.

In a close four-way race for places sixth through nine, Stanford has a combined 142 points through eight races, two points in front of Hobarat and William Smith College and also ahead of Boston College (149 points) and South Florida (152 points).

The B Division Cardinal team of Oliver Toole and Haley Kirk have 59 points, good enough for fourth in the division. Kevin Laube and Mateo Vargas have skippered the A Division to 83 points.
