STANFORD, Calif.- Kelsey Harbin scored her second straight game-winning goal to lead No. 16 Stanford past No. 10 Iowa 3-2 on Friday afternoon in another battle of nationally-ranked teams at the Varsity Turf.
Harbin's second goal of the year came in the 46th minute off a penalty corner, with Kasey Quon initiating the play and Becky Dru providing the feed.
Stanford (4-3, 0-0 NorPac) rallied from deficits of 1-0 and 2-1, tying the game twice thanks to goals from freshmen Maddie Secco and Lauren Becker.
Iowa (2-2, 0-0 Big Ten), which ascended to No. 10 in the national rankings this week after a fast start, attempted to battle back but was forced to play the final minutes short-handed when Corinne Allen and Jessica Barnett were issued a green card and yellow card, respectively.
The Cardinal held a 12-11 advantage in shots and a 7-6 edge in penalty corners. Nine different players registered at least one shot attempt for Stanford, with Harbin, Secco and Becky Dru notching two apiece.
The Hawkeyes jumped out early on, scoring in the third minute when Niki Schultheis poked home a loose ball to the left of the cage.
At the 17:01 mark, Secco tallied her second goal of the year in similar fashion, scoring unassisted when she beat Iowa keeper Kathleen McGraw following a deflection.
Five minutes later, Barnett converted on a penalty corner with assists from Schultheis and Marike Stribos.
Stanford was able to equalize right before the half, with Lauren Becker contributing her second goal of the season following a textbook penalty corner with assists from Hope Burke and Dru.
Ten minutes into the second period, Harbin produced the go-ahead goal off a penalty corner. The sophomore defender also scored the game-winner in Stanford's 2-1 win over Central Michigan on Monday.
Dulcie Davies made six saves in goal to earn the win.
Friday's game was televised nationally on the Pac-12 Networks, one of three home telecasts scheduled from the Varsity Turf this year.

NOTES: Stanford and Iowa were tied 2-2 at halftime. The last time the Cardinal and its opponent were tied at intermission was Oct. 16, 2011, when Stanford defeated California 3-2 following a 1-1 tie after 35 minutes ... Friday marked the first time in four telecasts that the home team (Stanford or California) won a televised game on the Pac-12 Networks ... Iowa was issued two green cards and one yellow card. Stanford's opponents have been whistled for 11 cards total through seven games, combined to six overall for the Cardinal ... Harbin and Secco both produced goals in their final game before departing to compete in the Junior Pan American Championships. The tournament runs from Sept. 10-23, so both players will miss the next three games.
