STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford outfielder Cassadra Roulund provides her first blog entry of the 2013 season. The sophomore will be blogging all season long to give Cardinal fans a behind-the-scenes look at the team.
Hello Cardinal family, friends, and fans!
Welcome to Stanford Softball's first blog post of 2013. For those of you who are wondering who I am - and who will be bringing you these fun, factual, and friendly blog posts - my name is Cassandra Roulund, but on the softball field, I am better known as Boo. I am a sophomore outfielder and I am so very excited to share the inside scoop of Stanford softball with all of you!
So, let's start off with some fun preseason tidbits. Stanford is currently 21st on the NCAA preseason rankings. As proud as we are of our ranking, we are working hard and have our eyes set on the goal of ending our season in first place!
Even though we have yet to play our first official game, we have been hard at work for months now. Every ground ball fielded, every pitch thrown and every bat swung have been executed with the upcoming season in mind. If there is one thing that I can share about Stanford softball, it is that we work harder than anyone else and we push ourselves to be the best.
Stanford is unique in that our athlete population isn't full of just athletes; we are student-athletes that know how to bring our `A' game both in the classroom and on the field. #NerdNation - we're constantly proving that intelligence and athleticism aren't mutually exclusive.
In the meantime, without games to be played, we have enjoyed relishing in our fellow Card's achievements such as watching a multitude of Stanford students participating in the 2012 Olympics, winning the Capital One Cup and cheering on our football team to victory at the Rose Bowl!
We depart for Arizona for our first official tournament and games of our 2013 season this Wednesday! Kajikawa bound! We are all more than ready to start this season off on the right foot.
Take a look at our upcoming schedule:
Thursday: Bradley
Friday: #2 Oklahoma and Portland State
Saturday: Cal Poly and Indiana
Sunday: Kentucky
If you happen to be in Tempe this weekend, we would love it if you came out to support Stanford softball!
Inspiring Quote of the Week: "Be so good they can't ignore you" - Steve Martin
Standout Teammate of the Week: Erin Ashby - she has been working extremely hard both on and off the field and it has really been showing! Watch out Arizona, here comes Erin!
*On a side note* our entire team has been training very hard and I am so very proud to be on such a phenomenal team).
Cheers,Boo
