STANFORD, Calif. - Freshman pitcher Kelsey Stevens threw a one-hitter as the No. 20/22 Stanford softball team run-ruled UC Davis, 8-0 in six innings, Sunday, in the final day of the Stanford Nike Invitational at Smith Family Stadium. The Cardinal is now 10-2 overall, while Aggies dropped to 5-5.

Stevens notched her third shutout of the season, improving to 5-1 overall. She finished with eight strikeouts and did not allow a walk against the Aggies. She now has 49 strikeouts on the year. Justine Vela took the loss for UC Davis, dropping to 3-1.

Scoreless through three and a half innings, White gave the Cardinal the lead with a solo shot to centerfield in the bottom of the fourth. It marks her first home run of the season and the sixth of her career.

Also in the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, freshman second baseman Kaitlin Schaberg drew a walk to score senior Jenna Rich and push the lead to 2-0.

The Cardinal added a third run in the bottom of the fifth inning as Rich ripped a single to left field, scoring senior Sarah Hassman from second.

Sophomore Cassandra Roulund hit an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning to spark a Stanford rally, which would ultimately end the game due to the run-rule. Roulund's double scored pinch runner Tylyn Wells, who entered the game for freshman first baseman Kayla Bonstrom. Sophomore Hanna Winter reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Roulund. White then hit a two-run triple to left centerfield, bringing home Schaberg and Winter. Rich's fielder's choice to score White ended the game with the Cardinal up 8-0.

Stanford hits the road next weekend, traveling to Cathedral City, Calif., for the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic Feb. 22-24. The Cardinal will take on Georgia, Oklahoma State, Virginia, Florida State and Syracuse.
