STANFORD, Calif. -The Stanford wrestling team won eight of 10 bouts and defeated San Francisco State 28-11, Saturday, at Burnham Pavilion in Stanford, Calif. Stanford improves to 6-14 overall, while the Gators fall to 8-8 on the year.

Stanford heavyweight sophomore Brendan Ter Wee won by forfeit to open the dual and give the Cardinal a 6-0 lead. Redshirt freshman Evan Silver recorded five takedowns, three nearfall points, an escape and riding time to pick up his fourth major decision over Mark Collier at 125 pounds. He now has a team-leading 24 wins on the year.

The Cardinal forfeited at 133 pounds and then sophomore Josh Laudedale fell 19-1 at 141 pounds to Naveed Bagheri, which brought the dual score to 11-10 in favor of San Francisco State.

At 149 pounds, senior Timmy Booneregistered a 3-1 decision over Conrad Snell. They battled to a 1-1 tie late in the third period, where Boone secured the winning takedown with just one second left in the match. He is now 18-14 overall.

Junior Garrett Schaner, wrestling in his first match since late December, fell behind early against Vincent Aboytes at 157 pounds. However, Schaner stormed back to record three takedowns, two escapes and capture riding time to earn a 9-3 decision.

Junior Kyle Meyer weighed in for the Cardinal at 157 pounds, but wrestled up at 165 pounds to give junior Bret Baumbachsome rest. Meyer delivered with a 4-2 sudden victory over Isaiah Jimenez. Tied 2-2 late in the third period, Meyer fought off a deep leg attack to force an extra period. There, Jimenez again got deep in an attack, but Meyer fought him off and in a flurry found himself in deep on Jimenez's leg, which he converted into the winning takedown.

True freshman Thomas Kimbrelladded to Stanford's lead with an 8-4 decision over AJ Simon at 174 pounds. He tallied a takedown in the first period and then collected two escapes and three near fall points in the third to go with riding time for the win.

Junior Alan Yencaptured his second win of the season with a 3-0 decision over Calvin Nicholls at 184 pounds. There was no score in the first period and after Nicholls chose down to start the second, Yen rode him out for the entire two minutes. He then converted on a third-period takedown to seal the victory.

Redshirt freshman Michael Sojkacapped off the dual with a 7-2 decision against Thomas Martin at 197 pounds. He tallied a takedown in each period and captured riding time to secure his 14th win of the season and his eighth in dual competition.

Stanford takes on CSU Bakersfield in Pac-12 action on Sunday, Feb. 10. The teams will face off at 3 p.m. in Bakersfield, Calif.
