Sailing Caps Off Strong Weekend With Pair of Wins

STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford continued its sailing hot streak with wins this past weekend at the John Jackson Memorial and St. Mary's Team Race. The Cardinal also finished ninth at the Navy Women's Spring Intersectional.

Stanford went 9-1 at the John Jackson Memorial Team Race hosted by Georgetown. The Cardinal was 7-0 after the opening round and went 2-1 in the final four.

Skippers Hans Henken, Antoine Screve and Mateo Vargas teamed with crews Samantha Steele, Rebecca King and Tally Buckstaff to pick up the win.

College of Charleston (7-3) was second and Connecticut College (6-4) was third.

The St. Mary's Team Race in St. Mary's, Md., featured another Cardinal win as Stanford went 12-2 for the crown over the 10-team field. Boston College (10-4) was second and Georgetown (9-5) took third. Stanford posted a 7-2 ledger in the opening round, followed by a 5-0 record to finish the event.

Kevin Laube teamed with Kelly Ortel, Kieran Chung-Wolf teamed with Yuri Namikawa and Oliver Toole teamed with Haley Kirk at the race.

The Navy Women's Spring Intersectional was won by the host Midshipmen (133). Stanford was ninth with 220 points.

The Cardinal was sixth in the A-Division (92) behind the efforts of Sarah Mace and Katie Riklin. Molly McKinney, Helena Scutt and Natalie Urban posted 128 points for 11th in the B-Division.
