Synchro Starts Strong at Collegiate Nationals

STANFORD, Calif. -The Stanford synchronized swimming team fared well on the first day of the U.S. Collegiate Nationals, Thursday, at the Avery Aquatics Center in Stanford, Calif. The Cardinal captured the top spot in the duet in the semifinals.

Stanford junior Megan Hansley and senior Olivia Morgan finished atop the duet semifinal standings with an 89.300. The Cardinal's Madison Crocker and Morgan Fuller, both seniors, placed second with an 87.612. Ohio State's Yuliya Maryanko and Paige Ramsey turned in an 87.425. Coming in fourth was Lindenwood University's Reem Abdalazem and Anouk Eman (86.725), while Canisius College's Victoria Mintz and Svetlana Ponkratova was fifth with an 86.400.

In the trio semifinal, Stanford claimed two of the top three spots. Fuller, Hansley and Morgan captured the top spot with an 89.250, while Crocker, Michelle Moore and Mariya Koroleva took third with an 87.662. Lindenwood's trio of Abdalazem, Eman and Mary Killman finished second with an 88.312. Ohio State rounded out the top five, scoring an 85.300 and an 85.150, respectively.

The Cardinal did not enter a solo routine. Lindenwood Killman, the duet partner of Stanford's Koroleva in the 2012 London Olympics, topped the solo category with an 89.625. Ohio State's Maryanko was second with an 88.387, while Canisius College's Ponkratova was third with an 87.300. Rounding out the top five were Incarnate Word's Rosilyn Tegart (86.587) and Lindenwood's Abdalazem (86.350).

The U.S. Collegiate Nationals will continue on Friday, March 22 with the team semifinals as well as the technical competitions. The finals will be held on Saturday, March 23 beginning at 8:30 a.m. PT.
